Enterprise Data and AI/ML Architect

Client :- Sephora

location :- REMOTE

Hiring manager call notes:

Right now, they have an architect who is mainly into data platform and 2 nd is into AI/ML side. Now plan is to hire one person who can do end to end.

They are using Azure Databricks.

Azure and most of the marketing data is into google cloud.

They don't need anyone from Java background. They need someone from data technologies.

Should be well versed in database technologies.

Interview process: This position will require more than three interviews.

Your role at Sephora:


As an Enterprise Data and AI/ML Architect, you will be responsible to lead the architecture and design of Data Platform and leverage it for AI/ML solutions. Reporting to the Director, Architecture you will:
Lead the Architecture and design of business and tech initiatives related to Data Platforms and its use in AI/ML across different systems and applications including Ecommerce (Search, Browse, Cart, Checkout), Web/Mobile, Digital Marketing and Retail Systems.
Design and oversee pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and feature engineering.
Define scalable data & AI/ML architecture across structured, semi-structured and unstructured Data Sources.
Work with engineering teams to translate business problems to ML solutions. Help guide development and curation of ML models from experimentation to production deployments.
Good knowledge and prior practice of ML-Ops, model deployments, monitoring and version control.
Good knowledge of organizational practices in Data engineering including Data democratization, Data Mesh approaches and creation of Data Products.
Ideal candidate will have prior experience with Azure DataBricks, Dataiku and cloud database technologies.

Extensive knowledge and proven experience with existing Digital, E-Commerce and Web technologies and tools (E-Commerce Platforms, Digital Marketing Tools, Search, Personalization)
Good knowledge on
o Foundational understanding of how internet and web works
o object-oriented programming
o RDBMS and modern NoSQL database designs and querying languages
o Microservices and REST services
o Expertise in the E-Commerce, Digital domains, Personalization and related technologies
o Good knowledge/Exposure on Digital Marketing tools and technologies
Extensive experience in supporting large scale E-Commerce and Digital presence
Highly experienced in architecting modern architectures based on Cloud and Microservices
Experience with next generation technologies to build digital experiences and capabilities is desired (AI, ML)
Experience with one or more public clouds MS Azure, AWS, GCP
Experience with modern microservices architecture using Service Mesh, API Gateways, Native Cloud Technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
Jack of All trades (Ability to have engaging and thoughtful discussions with large cross functional teams like Engineering, DevOps, Database, Networking, Infrastructure, Data, EDW as well as ability to deep dive into the specifics of a solution and ability to challenge and ask the right questions)
Being obsessed with creating quality business and user facing solutions and living for face to face interactions with them to develop goals, strategies, and technology solutions.

Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred)
7+ years of experience as an Enterprise Architect
10+ years of experience with Data Platforms and E-Commerce space
