The Position

The Procurement Manager will be responsible for developing and executing procurement and purchasing strategies for equipment, goods and services across the Institution, collaborating with divisional leaders on business needs and requirements. This position will be responsible for identifying potential vendors and managing vendor relationships to assist in negotiating terms, prices and contracts. A successful candidate will apply knowledge of principles and practices of procurement, providing good file management of financial activities in accordance with reporting guidelines of the department, college and regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies to optimize cost savings and operational efficiencies across the Institution, to include centralizing and optimizing contract management and pricing
  • Develop and govern procurement policies and procedures for the College
  • Collaborate with divisional stakeholders and budget office to ensure clear requirements and documentation
  • Administer the college commercial credit card program, including recurring analysis on spending and compliance with policy
  • Manage college vendor relationships and campus-wide contracts, including but not limited to, office supplies, document disposal services, uniforms and apparel orders, and other subscription-based services
  • Develop/implement system to track contracts and the associated terms, renewals and expirations
  • Oversee request for proposal (RFP) processes for equipment, goods and services
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with institutional policies ensuring transparency in spending and adhering to budget constraints
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness

Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Bachelor’s degree required in related field such finance, business, or accounting
  • Three to five years of experience with procurement and/or purchasing
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; Strong attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills to conduct business with professionalism at various levels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with confident Excel skills
  • Demonstrated analytical, planning, and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines and balance responsibilities to complete daily duties and projects
  • Analytical thinking and problem identification and resolution skills
  • Familiarity with Ellucian Colleague Finance system, preferred
