Salary Range: $85,000.00 To $130,000.00 Annually

Job Opportunity:

BHSI has an exciting opportunity in either our Boston, MA or Atlanta, GA office for a results-driven, analytical, and motivated Property Underwriter with 2+ years of experience, preferably in the Wholesale / Excess & Surplus (E&S) property insurance market. We’re looking for a smart, driven, and curious early-career professional who is eager to build a long-term career in commercial property underwriting within the exciting and fast-moving excess and surplus (E&S) market. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review and assess property insurance submissions for completeness, accuracy, and risk acceptability.
  • Analyze CAT-exposed property risks and determine appropriate pricing and coverage terms.
  • Collaborate with brokers to understand market opportunities and develop tailored insurance solutions.
  • Maintain underwriting discipline while achieving business growth and profitability goals.
  • Document underwriting thought process & decisions; maintain accurate records in internal systems.
  • Stay current on industry trends & (re)insurer financial results.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • 2+ years of property underwriting experience, preferably in the Wholesale and/or E&S market.
  • Strong understanding of property coverage structures, risk assessment principles, and pricing mechanics.
  • Proven ability to manage broker relationships and deliver responsive, solutions-oriented service.
  • Self-starter with excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in underwriting tools and systems; familiarity with CAT modeling software and terminology is preferred.
  • Desire to grow into a production underwriting role with increasing autonomy and business development responsibility.
  • Willingness to travel.

The base salary range for this position in both Boston and Atlanta is $85,000 to $130,000, along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience.
